Workers’ compensation judge named to State Bar Court

The state Supreme Court last month named a judge with a Stockton-based workers’ compensation division to a judicial post in State Bar Court.

Judge William Kearse McGill will serve as a hearing judge in Los Angeles. His term will start when he takes the oath of office and last until Oct. 31, 2016.

McGill, 49, now serves as the presiding judge of the California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation, which oversees the processing of workers' compensation claims and provides judicial services in resolving disputes over claims for workers' compensation benefits. He was first appointed as a workers’ compensation judge in 2005 and has worked as counsel for applicants and as defense counsel in private practice.

McGill graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. His Bachelor of Arts degree is from Clemson University in South Carolina.
