Two vie for State Bar board presidency
Trustee Michael G. Colantuono and Vice President James P. Fox
indicated last month they will seek the next presidency of the State Bar Board of Trustees.
Trustees will choose the president and other officers for
2016-2017 at their July 22 board meeting.
Colantuono, 54, of Colantuono, Highsmith & Whatley PC,
is serving his second three-year term as an appointee of the Speaker of the
California Assembly. Fox, 71, former district attorney of San Mateo County, was
appointed by the California Supreme Court in 2014.
The vice presidency will go to the sole candidate, Danette
E. Meyers, a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles. Meyers joined the board in
2014 by election in District 2.
The race for treasurer features Los Angeles attorney Jason
P. Lee, who was appointed by the Supreme Court in 2015, and Todd F. Stevens of
San Diego, who was elected from District 4 in 2015.
