Happenings March 2012
The San Fernando Valley Bar Association sponsored a
Giving Tree during the 2011 holiday season to benefit the families of Haven
Hills, a Canoga Park non-profit providing shelter and services for victims of
domestic violence. The tremendous generosity of SFVBA members, staff and member
benefit providers brought a little holiday cheer to 39 families.
On Dec. 24, 2011, the Riverside County Bar Association marked
10 years of helping low-income residents of Riverside County through
RCBA’s Elves Program. Since 2001, RCBA’s elves have helped
approximately 230 families, including 350 adults and more than 720 children.
For 2011, the Money, Shopping, Wrapping and Delivery Elves brought gifts to 32
families, plus a holiday dinner for the 110 children and 49 adults.
March 2012 starts the 96th year of the San Mateo
County Bar Association, where John
Digiacinto has been executive director for nearly 12 years.
Since July 2000, Digiacinto also has served as chief defender of the
county’s Private Defender Program, which provides criminal defense for
indigent suspects. San Mateo County’s PDP remains unique in California.
