aftermath of the September fire. The group spent five days in Middletown in
early October, answering questions and connecting residents to legal resources.
David J. Pasternak took the helm of the State Bar board last
month, pledging to advocate for increased funding for the judiciary and
increased access to legal services.

A State Bar panel last month recommended that California amend its ethics rules to specifically address prosecutorial misconduct.
Gov. Jerry Brown has signed into law the State Bar’s annual
fee bill, SB 387, which will keep the basic yearly licensing fee at $315 in
2016 for practicing lawyers in California.
The State Bar is recruiting
dedicated volunteers for approximately 200 positions on more than three dozen
committees, boards and commissions.
