Letters to the Editor

Inappropriate criticism

Kurt Melchior has been a vocal member and participant in the long review process of California’s rules of professional conduct. He has had his say, he has had his opportunity to persuade the members of the commission, and he has failed, in his mind, to achieve his goals. So, he now “goes public.” (Diane Karpman, September)

Winning his argument is not the end, participating in the process is. Perhaps we should have required a consensus, not a split vote, before recommending changes to the rules.

Kudos for Karpman

Ethics Byte is the best section of the Cal Bar Journal and the one article I’ll always make time to read.
