Bar
launches nationwide search for new executive director
The State
Bar – which oversees admissions, discipline and regulation of California’s
253,000 lawyers – has kicked off a nationwide search for a new executive
director.
The
executive director reports to the bar’s 19-member Board of Trustees, the governing body for the
agency, which is the largest unified state bar in the country.
“We are
seeking an outstanding leader and administrator with a demonstrated track
record of success in leading a large, complex, private or
nonprofit/governmental enterprise,” State Bar President Craig Holden said.
The
board’s search committee is headed by Trustees Gwen Moore and Hernan Vera and
includes Janet Brewer, Miriam Krinsky, Heather Rosing, David Torres and
Terrance Flanigan.
The
search timeline calls for the new executive director to be selected by
mid-June. Deputy Executive Director Robert Hawley has served as acting
executive director of the bar since the departure of Joseph Dunn in November
2014.
The
search is being led by The Hawkins Company, a Los Angeles-based executive
search firm that specializes in recruiting nonprofit and government
professionals. Those who are interested in the position should
contact Bill Hawkins of The Hawkins Company at 310-348-8800 or bill@thehawkinscompany.com by May 1.
