MCLE Self-Assessment Test

Reminder: Annual State Bar fees due March 1

Attorneys who haven’t yet paid their annual licensing fees (and whose fees aren’t being picked up by their employer), have until March 1 to do so without penalty.

As a reminder, paper billing statements are not being sent. The State Bar has launched a new online billing and payment application for 2017 fees.

For individual payments, attorneys should log on to My State Bar Profile. From there, attorneys can make online payments or print a paper statement that can be mailed with a check to the State Bar.

To make payments for a group of attorneys, law firms and agencies should use the State Bar’s new Agency Billing system.

Once an attorney’s fees are paid, a paper bar card will be conveniently available for download through My State Bar Profile. Plastic bar cards are made available only on request and can also be ordered through My State Bar Profile.

When paying your bill, please consider making a contribution in support of legal services for low income Californians. Your support is a lifeline that can help prevent homelessness, keep kids in school, protect elders from fraud and abuse and connect veterans to services, among other critical legal assistance.

The fee payment deadline was extended by one month due to the California Supreme Court’s interim fee assessment order, which was granted at the State Bar’s request in lieu of an annual fee bill from the Legislature.

To coincide with the later fee deadline, the due date for compliance with Minimum Continuing Legal Education requirements was also extended to March 1 for attorneys in Group 3 (N-Z).

Courses taken through the end of February may be credited for the current reporting period. However, if you use these courses for the current reporting period you will not be allowed to count them a second time for Group 3’s next reporting period that comes in 2020.
