It was history in the making when the incoming State Bar
president took the oath last month. A slate of new officers and new trustees
were also sworn in by Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye.
The Board of Trustees is seeking public comment on a draft
plan to implement new competency skills training requirements aimed at better
preparing lawyers for the profession.

character last month for an educational program based on the colorful life of a
California justice from the 1800s.
The State Bar Court welcomes the addition of one new judge
and the elevation of two veteran judges.
The Commission on Judicial Performance last month censured
two judges – one from Kern County and the other from Orange County – for
similar but unrelated misconduct that included having sex with women at their
respective courthouses.
